What is a Save the Date Card?

The Save-The-Date card is simply a way of giving your guests a heads up about your upcoming vow renewal, letting them know in advance the date you have chosen and (possibly location if you’re planning a destination vow renewal), so that they can make plans accordingly before they receive the actual invitation.  If you’re planning a destination vow renewal, they are usually packed with travel information.  All you really need to include is your vow renewal date, the city and state, and of course, your names.

Formal Card
Please hold the date of Friday,
March second, two thousand and twelve,
for the vow renewal of
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Barrett

Formal Letter
Dear _________,
You are cordially requested to hold the date of Friday, the second of March, two thousand and twelve, for the vow renewal of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Barrett.  We sincerely hope you will be able to honor us with your presence at our most joyful occasion.

Although plans are currently incomplete, a formal dinner and dessert will be served, with music and dancing.  More complete details will be included in the invitation.
